Parent Internet Permission Information

As part of the school’s IT programme we offer pupils supervised access to the Internet, the global network of computers. Pupils now need parental permission and we ask you please to return the enclosed form as evidence of your acceptance of the school rules on this matter.

Access to the Internet will enable pupils to explore thousands of libraries, databases, and bulletin boards while exchanging messages with other Internet users throughout the world. Families should be warned that some material accessible via the Internet might contain items that are illegal, defamatory, inaccurate or potentially offensive to some people.

Our aim for Internet use is to further educational goals and objectives and pupils will not be given unsupervised access. Nevertheless, pupils may find ways to access other materials as well. We believe that the benefits to pupils from access to the Internet, in the form of information resources and opportunities for collaboration, exceed any disadvantages. Ultimately teachers, parents and guardians are responsible for setting and conveying the standards that their children should follow when using media and information sources.

During school, teachers will guide pupils toward appropriate materials. Outside of school, families bear the same responsibility for such guidance as they exercise with information sources such as television, telephones, movies, radio and other potentially offensive media.

As part of our Internet usage, the school maintains a school website which is connected to our Learning Platform. ( We wish to use this website to keep parents informed of school trips and other activities. In addition, we hope to offer parents and friends the opportunity to view photographs of various activities. As part of this, images of the pupils may appear on the website. At no time will we allow children’s names to appear in connection with these images. If you are not comfortable with this policy, please indicate on the consent form accordingly.

We would be grateful if you could complete the permission form that follows.

Yours sincerely

Mike Taylor

Interim Head of School
