Visual Resources and Neurodivergent Signposting
At All Saints we love to help as much as we can and we try and give you as many resources, tips, tricks and ideas to support you as best as possible. On this page you will find some handy resources that may help, particularly those with communication difficulties.
Social Stories
Social stories are a great way of helping a child understand what might happen in certain situations. Stories can be found online or written yourself and are meant to be simple and factual. These stories can help a child understand what is expected of them. Below is an example of a social story of a morning routine and walking to school.
Sticker Charts / Reward Charts
Sometimes children need an incentive to achieve goals or give them a positive step forward to make changes that may bring about anxiety. A chart is a good way of building a routine and keeping everyone involved accountable.
Timelines / Now and Next / Visual Cards
Occasionally some children will struggle with forward planning and thinking. These types of resources can give them the understanding of what comes next and help them with simple instructions.
